Katerina Bocci Heads to Fashion Week
Formerly known as the Wedding Channel Couture Show, the now renamed Couture: New York Bridal Fashion Week will feature ‘Project Runway’ alum Heidi Elnora. Elnora, who went by the name Heidi Elnora Standridge while appearing on the show, was quickly eliminated from season two of the award-winning reality television fashion competition. This early blow to her career hasn’t stopped the success of her bridal design business or the two bridal shops she currently owns in Atlanta and Birmingham.
Elnora will be premiering her Spring 2012 collection at Couture: New York Bridal Fashion Week. Elnora has whimsically title this collection “Keep calm and carry on”- a motto many brides struggle to embrace while planning their own dream weddings. The collection features floral motifs, lace, slight sparkle, and exaggerated touches for a more lighthearted approach than this designer is sometimes known for.
This playful approach harkens back to the four years Elnora spent designing children’s wear for Carters, a job she held right out of college after receiving her degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. After her exit from ‘Project Runway’ Elnora decided to restart her career by focusing on her own bridal line.
This will not be Elnora’s first time showing at Couture: New York Bridal Fashion Week. She has attended this event many times since its inception in 1995. Couture: New York Bridal Fashion Week is the country’s premier bridal-industry trade show. It is a biannual event held in April and October, which gathers together national and international bridal fashion designers and retailers to showcase the latest fashion trends of the bridal world.
Hundreds of vendors and designers will be on hand to attend Couture: New York Bridal Fashion Week. Among the other attendees will be designers such as Maggie Sottero, Katerina Bocci, and Karen Hendrix. Among the most highly anticipated exhibitors will be the Wrapture Collection by SEAMS Couture. The Wrapture Collection was created by bridal designer Harper Della-Piana in response to every bridesmaid’s classic complaint- “But I’ll never wear it again!”. The Wrapture Collection features classic silhouettes with wrap and tie convenience- dresses that won’t need expensive alterations to look great for years. Like all the dresses created at SEAMS Couture this are handmade garments created in an eco-friendly workroom with sustainable earth friendly fabrics.
With the ongoing green wedding focus the Wrapture Collection by SEAMS Couture is expected to generate a lot of excitement at Couture: New York Bridal Fashion Week. This event will be held October 15th through 17th.
